Best Podcasts for Men
Podcasts are a great way for men to consume information. Many podcasters will interview authors and authorities in a number of subjects, and those podcasts are easily accessible on the internet and mobile devices.
The Manlihood ManCast is my podcast, and I’m proud of what we are accomplishing there, but this list is really about the other podcasts for men that I think have a tremendous value for your personal development.
Order of Man
Ryan Michler’s Order of Man is a phenomenon in the “manosphere” — a thriving,. common sense and no-nonsense bastion in the personal development for men arena.
His podcasts drops several times a week and includes long form interviews with guests, a Q&A session with Michler and Kip Sorenson where he unpacks questions submitted from the Order of Man Facebook Group, and my favorite, Friday Field Notes.
I appreciate the rock solid interviews, but I honestly get the most out of Michler’s own candid and thought- provoking examination and encouragement for men.
Mike Rowe
Mike Rowe is well-known as the host of the TV Show Dirty Jobs, and for his voice over work on many shows and commercials.
He’s a bit of a folk hero to the blue collar, and has built a reputation standing up for the hard-working men and women of America, without taking a divisive political stance.
His “The Way I Heard It” Podcast is very reminiscent of “The Rest of the Story” by Paul Harvey – the old school radio vignettes that had a cute surprise twist at the end. Rowe’s podcast in similar fashion delves into history and storytelling in a masterful and interesting way. It’s also great for listeners like me with a short attention span.
Jocko Podcast
Jocko Willink isn’t for everybody. He’ll tell you that himself. He’s a Navy Seal, and author of the book “Extreme Ownership” (along with Leif Babin) and Discipline equals freedom.
Jocko speaks truth like a Navy Seal. It’s confrontational, and can be intimidating. He’s a man moved by conviction. If you aren’t moved by similar conviction, get out of the way.
His conviction, though, is precisely what men need to hear. They may not want to hear it, but it’s what we need to hear.
Applying Jocko’s principles will radically change your life.
Great Man Podcast
Stephen Mansfield is the author of “Mansfields’ Book of Manly Men” among several other interesting books. His GreatMan Podcast talks about noble masculinity – which he believes is the answer to toxic masculinity, whether it is real or imagined.
Mansfield is a man of logic and reason, while simultaneously a man of faith. His Christian conviction is clear, but his approach to masculinity is accessible to anyone, regardless of religious background.
In his podcast, he tackles the noble virtues of manhood in a meaningful and intellectual fashion.
The Arms Room Men’s Breakfast Podcast
Chuck Holton is an author and war correspondent. He has appeared on the Manlihood ManCast, but he’s no stranger to the world of podcasting. The Arms Room Podcast is certainly coming from Holton’s conservative Christian viewpoint. I tend to agree with Holton on many things, so I can appreciate his perspective.
But it’s the perspective of his guests that really seal the deal here. Even if you don’t line up politically or spiritually, hearing many of these men talk about what they’ve learned about life while in dangerous situations serving their country and communities gives them a credibility that makes them stand out from the rest.
It’s one thing to talk about courage and bravery. It’s another to go fight to free oppressed people in war zones, or run into burning buildings to save people. If you do that… you have earned the right to your opinion, and it gives you a gravitas we should at least attempt to understand.
