My kids won’t listen to me. I work all day and I get home and my wife just throws up her hands and makes me take over. I don’t have the energy to fight and argue with them like this. How can I fix this?

Ah, Fatherhood
wake, in the wee hours of the night
horrors of the hours
the lack of sleep
keeping, creeping
up
my
spine
of which the books
don’t bother with the bullshit
folks do not fiddle
with the fallacy of fatherhood
the frailty
the finality
fizzing out
and fruit
not falling far
from the tree
this little guy
the apple of my eye
has gone tart
and mealy
and his mother and I
not much touchy-feely
forbidden, bottom of the midden
diapers piled high
*sigh*

In this episode, Brian Bailey talks about growing up loving Christmas lights, and how those lights are a symbol of something more.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

Every Thursday, we feature and highlight one part of masculinity that is often pushed to the side – creativity! This week, Josh Hatcher of Manlihood and Out of Your Shell Poetry will read “An Eclipse is Only Perspective” from “When Sea Billows Roll” available on Amazon today!
She was a beauty.
An Eclipse Is Only Perspective
When the moon, white as bone,
Passes in front of the sun.
The earth is shrouded for a moment.
Still. Quiet. And mesmerized.
Only the sun’s fiery crown lights up the edge of the sky.
Prophets cry out.
Scientists scribble notes.
It’s an omen! It’s science!
Yellow fire turns black.
The bone white moon turns black.
And wisps of sun fire glow almost green or blue.
Perspective really is everything.
She can block out the sun.
She can inspire poets to dance,
wise men to wonder,
children to blind themselves to get a once in a lifetime glimpse.
And a day’s journey away – the moon passes over, and no one even notices.
The world isn’t ending. The sun doesn’t go dark. No one is on their manicured lawns staring at the sky through goggles.
From their perspective, nothing changes. No bone white moon. No fiery crown. No blackened sky.
How do we know who we are? What is our value? Do we have virtue? How do we make sure that others know who we truly are? M
